Cynthia McKean (cMc Design) works in painted, structural steel plate creating abstract and representational forms, the smallest of which is 6" high and the tallest of which is 32' high.
Nestled behind a grove of white poplars, near a bog, and surrounded by woods is Cynthia's studio, fondly referred to as "the Barn".  This is the hub of her activity, where she dreams dreams, builds models, and displays her smaller work.
Featured in the barn is a collection of presentations she has made when responding to specific requests for proposal.  Some were rewarded and some not.  Giving visitors a bird’s eye view of the process enlightens their understanding of the complexity and magnitude of what is involved in creating large scale steel sculpture. Great barn doors swing open into the sculpture garden where one can stroll among brightly colored steel creations.  Sculptures range in size from monumental in the meadow to more modest along hidden paths.  A light bite to eat and a cool beverage will greet visitors.

Mike Vermerris , raku ceramics
mnvermerris@gmail.com

Mike’s focus is hand built, raku fired pottery.  Raku pottery is beautifully unpredictable, and Mike finds the spontaneity and surprise exciting; while using the flame and carbon to enhance his work.  His pieces are fired to 1850 degrees and quickly removed from the kiln and transferred to a container filled with combustibles.  The hot pottery immediately ignites these materials and starts the chemical reaction that results in these one-of-a-kind pieces; not possible with other firing methods.
During the Artz and Gardenz Tour, Mike will explain techniques used for forming his pots, while sharing his excitement for the raku process.

Ian Cross, Landscape Paintings

Ian's body of work traditionally comes in the form of relief prints, etchings and lithographs, however his
recent landscape paintings have all been created on different sizes of brown Kraft paper grocery bags.  Ian utilizes the visual irony created by painting landscapes onto recycled everyday objects.  "By revealing the landscapes in this way, it helps to reframe my concerns about environmental issues and serves as an object that directly overlaps nature and commerce."

Judy Hallisy, Murano glass
judybooks@msn.com

Judy incorporates a 700 year old Italian technique from the Island of Murano which is characterized by the use of multicolored glass or millefiori, meaning "one thousand flowers" in Italian. The result; complex organic garden-like designs that dance across the surface of tall cylinders and "flats". Her collection is available to view at her bookstore/gallery Singapore Books in Saugatuck.

Carolyn Fink, Metal Design
carolynfink@sbcglobal.net
http://www.carolynfink.com

An expert welder, Carolyn designs metal garden art and other items.  She says, "Firing up the forge, hammering red hot steel, grinding the rust off a piece othat was once discarded in a tangled heap and creating art from unusual found objects makes every day a surprise."  Currently she is inspired by a natural leaf theme, using metal "drops" (purchased trims leftover from steel construction orders) and found pieces of scrap metal.
